She was giddy when Uncle Ryan arrived.
Love this photo of her sandwiched between the boys. |

| And then it turned to this... |
It's hard to believe Barrett turns one this week. At the same time, he's so big and folded into the family so easily from day one that it feels like he's going on two or three already.
Ryan arrived earlier this week to spend some time with us before heading back to Cornell after a couple of years in Argentina. Friday my mom got in town for a two week visit.
Yesterday we celebrated Barrett's birthday with immediate family and Cristina's family. I kept the guest list and activities super simple so it was all about Barrett. All of his "friends" are through Landry's friends and I didn't want them over and allow Landry to steal the show.
The afternoon was perfect: yummy food and cake, lots of balloons and a few new boy-friendly toys to join Landry's pink parade in the playroom.
Not surprisingly, Barrett's favorite portion of the party was his personal little smash cake. He was very delicate at first with a single finger swipe at the frosting but then went all in face first. He loved every bite. So much so he landed in the bathtub afterwards because he had icing head to toe.
Happy birthday, Barrett!
