A week in photos

Between Monday being a holiday and prepping for our trip, this week has flown by!  I've been cramming a month's work of writing -- I am not going to write one bit during my trip, the longest I've ever gone, ever! -- into two weeks in addition to getting everything ready for next Saturday's flea.

I had Landry full time Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week and had so much fun with her.  We played with her new toys, went out for meals, and swam every day.  I also had fun dressing her up, especially in a handmade pink tutu and matching headband my grandma made for her.

One day we went shopping to grab a few things for my trip and I stumbled upon a darling ladybug costume for Landry this Halloween.  With fall fashion now out, I also scored two boho-chic little faux fur vest and jacket outfits I couldn't live without.  They were only available in 6-9 month sizes, I hope she fits into them once it finally cools down here for good with the way she's growing!

Friday night Michael and I hired a babysitter to try a new restaurant and rooftop lounge with beautiful Dallas views.  Yesterday we grilled outside with friends for dinner to enjoy this unseasonably cool weather right now.

Tomorrow is her six month checkup and Wednesday she officially turns six months.  Thursday my mom arrives to help with the flea.  We have such an exciting week ahead!

When Landry gets really excited, she pulls her hands up to her mouth;
this expression melts my heart every time.

Sporting her tutu and headband from great grandma Mama

Loves her new play gym bouncer thingy!

Snuggling on the sofa while mom writes away!

Cat nap with Jerry the giraffe (Michael named him).  He also named a new monkey toy Michael the  monkey.
I told him he needs to get more creative in the name department.

Can you handle it?  I've always called Landry ladybug so this Halloween costume was a must! Michael is going to dress as a leaf and carry her around the neighborhood.  Well, that's my plan anyway!

I am so happy I had a girl!  Shopping for the peanut is so much fun!
The left outfit's pants are skinny jeans, by the way. I couldn't resist!

Mama's medicine after a long week of writing with a baby on my hip-lap-chest.  Yum!

View from our night cap locale, which is also where my flea is located next week.

Happy girls!

Thanks for the fun outfit, Mimi!
Ready to go to lunch with mommy and daddy!

Five months and more

Landry found her hands late this summer.  She loves to play with Millie the monkey attached to her car seat.

First road trip to Fort Worth

Scored big time at the Fort Worth flea market.  Looks like Landry is my good luck charm :)

Cristina (our nanny) loves to play dress up with Landry

She can't get enough of her new giraffe from Nana and Grandpa

Play date with Mary Margaret

Such a happy girl!

Recent ad for a new local mom magazine. Yep, that's me bottom right.

Lunch play date with my friend Bianca.  Landry loved storytime with B!

Ride home from brunch with Tracy and Van

See why I waited as long as possible to buy this toy?
Admittedly, I have been bad about blogging this summer.  We have had such a jam-packed calendar -- and an anti-napping baby on our hands -- that it's been tough to sit down and write.

I can't believe Landry is five months and four weeks today (thanks to my weekly baby progress update, I know her exact age).  This stage is so much fun!

She is so interactive and loves to smile.  She giggles around the clock and often belly laughs when Michael or I make funny faces at her or tickle her ribs or feet.  She's getting so big!  She's mostly wearing outfits size 6-9 months because she's so long.  She has total head control and is now working on her core to sit up on her own.  She's not there yet but making a lot of progress.  She's also trying to crawl during tummy time but not able to figure it out quite yet.

Over the past couple months we have been logging lots of play dates with my friends and their babies.  We have had a lot of fun with Ari and Leila and have paid several visits to J.R. down the street.  Even though he's almost five, he has fun loving on Landry and reading her books (the sweetest thing ever).  My friend Megan recently introduced me to her sister that lives a couple blocks away who has a daughter born just a week after Landry.  The girls will be in the same class so it was fun to get them together.

This weekend was a lot of fun.  Friday night we had dinner at our friend Joslyn's house (Tracy and Van were there, too).  Her two daughters were home and they loved on Landry all night.  We are so lucky Landry isn't too stuck to a schedule to be able to enjoy evenings with friends.

Saturday we bought her a jumper and she just loves it.  I had been holding out on buying one because they are so big and ugly (somebody would really make a buck if they replaced the primary color palette for softer tones).  But during our play date this week she tried one out and loved it so I had to cave in.  Michael also finally built the high chair now that she is able to sit up with some assistance and she loves eating her homemade applesauce inside it.

We spent a lot of the weekend in the pool, too.  Landry is such a water baby (she is a Pieces, after all).  She could spend hours in the water if we let her.  Michael and I take turns holding her in the water and playing with her in a star-shaped tube toy we bought.  She just smiles and splashes the entire time.  It's one of her favorite activities right now by far.

With my flea market less than two weeks away, my schedule is getting very busy these days.  In addition, Michael and I leave for two weeks the day after the flea to celebrate my 30th birthday.  We are visiting Madrid, Paris, and Morocco.  We are so excited but I'm very anxious to leave Landry that long.  Luckily, my mom is taking her to California for the entire time we're away so I know she'll be in loving hands and have lots of people spoiling her day and night.

We have her six month appointment next week.  Stay tuned!
