Happy 4th, everyone! Hope y'all had a wonderful long weekend. Ours was very laid back: Friday we took the kids to our friends' house for a swim lesson and then we all hit a local patio for some Mexican food and margaritas with our gaggle of babies. Yesterday we holed up a the lakehouse and did our usual -- bocce ball, movies, popcorn, s'mores, chalk doodles... Barrett is officially at the point we feel a little more comfortable with a boat so we will rev up our hunt very soon. Can't wait to get on the water and not just look at it!
The past few weeks have been a mix of summer fun and work frenzy. On the fun front: Landry started gym class once a week and is loving her hour of tumbles, bar exercises and coordination lessons (all set to the Frozen soundtrack, which she adores of course). We've had multiple play dates and birthday parties as well. Fridays we have swim class with friends and she loves the entire afternoon from the pool part to lunch and playtime with her pals. Barrett is a trooper watching all of the fun and joining the big kids whenever possible. Last weekend I even snuck in a three day girls trip with Courtney to Atlanta. We just caught up, ate at fabulous restaurants, sipped cocktails, shopped and saw a really fun show featuring Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper.
June has been one of my busiest work months ever. I had back-to-back full home installs that had me and my team running around town like crazy. Last week Lauren and I flew to Rockport for five days to put together the entire house (it was a two-year project) which is always tricky with our family/nanny schedule. But, Michael and Cristina tag-teamed it perfectly. And, both sets of clients were over the moon with the results which is a huge relief!
Luckily, with the exception of a small install this month in Newport, all of my clients are now in Dallas. I think Michael is happier than anybody about this fact! And better yet, I've told all of my existing clients that I'm laying low the rest of summer to focus on the flea (the show has been sold out for weeks and I need to find more space asap) and will be working at a slower pace than normal. I'm very much looking forward to focusing on the expansion of the flea and spending some quality time with the kids before school starts.
I feel like both kids have grown like weeds this summer. And the fact that Barrett is 18 months next week blows my mind. Lately when I look at Landry I feel like she's more of a little girl than a toddler. I just can't believe how fast the time goes.
Landry is in the asking questions phase. She's so curious and lets me know everything that's on her mind. Barrett just wants to be a big kid. He refuses the high chair only to sit at the bar like his big sister (or "Sis Sis" as he calls her). He's starting to put words together like "more juice" or "let it go" thanks to Landry's favorite movie. He's very physical and can throw a ball at least 10 feet these days.
They are starting to play together more and more, which melts my heart. Landry is still doing great with her big girl bed and she's finally going potty all by herself (we know she's done so by a loud round of applause coming from the bathroom to congratulate herself).
I wish I could just freeze this moment in time.
