The dozens of poopy diapers, kitchen cleanups and nighttime feedings aside, the weekend was pretty perfect in my book.

The weather was absolutely perfect and we enjoyed as much time as possible outside with the kiddos.    We spent the majority of our days in the cabana playing games, drinking wine and watching Landry draw on the concrete with chalk.

We kicked off the weekend Thursday with a date night thanks to Bradley offering to babysit.  We grabbed a delicious dinner down the street and enjoyed some one-on-one time after Michael had been out of town last week.

Last night we had Michael's best friend's 40th birthday party.  It was our first night out with a hired sitter watching the kids.  With my breastfeeding our night was far from a wild one, but it was nice to get back out on the town and catch up with old friends, even if only for a few hours.

Today was my absolute favorite kind of day.  We woke up with no plans in the world.  That turned into a pancake-filled brunch at our favorite place in town, more chilling in the cabana, and a walk with the kiddos that landed us at Whole Foods to pick up dinner.  I even snuck in a couple of hours of antiquing with Barrett while Landry napped and scored some vintage jewelry and decor items for the house and clients.

This week I finally settled into my office.  It's been so nice to have a place outside of the home and Starbucks to plug away at work.  And don't get me started on the luxuries of an assistant.  Angela has made my life so much easier!

I have a large warehouse space so, for the time being, I've subleased some of it to my friend Paula.  I really like the arrangement and hope we can make sharing the space work.  It's so fun to have her around and her gorgeous line -- she makes fashion and home goods -- really make the office extra beautiful.

This week we wrapped up a small remodel at home turning the upstairs laundry room into a play room.  Landry loves the space!  It turned out so cute complete with a chalkboard wall, colorful carpet tile floor and cubbies galore for her toys.

Just as we wrapped that project up, we had the upstairs guest bathroom demolished.  We've wanted to do this forever and finally decided to take it on.  I selected some materials I'm really excited about and hope we have it complete in time for my mom's arrival next month.

As our family grows, I find that we are spending more and more time at home.  It's just easier many times between naps, lugging around the gear, messy mealtimes, etc.  So, we've made a major effort to make the house our little sanctuary.  I'm so thankful on days like today!

Valentine's Day

Barrett turned one month on Valentine's Day

A new favorite pastime.

At least she throws her diaper in the trash!
Today Barrett is five weeks old; Valentine's Day marked his first month birthday!

Life is crazy as ever around here, but I'm loving every loony minute.  Landry is getting sassier by the day making Barrett's sleep and feeding schedule seem like a walk in the park.  Her latest things include playing in the dirt, eating said dirt, crawling vs. walking, drinking from a baby bottle and resisting clothes (aka running around the house naked).

All that said, at least her antics are in fun and not defiance.  She just wants to get a laugh out of us.  She loves to put on a show already! However, it's still a challenge cleaning her nails after digging for dirt while wearing a five-week old on your chest in a Baby Bjorn.

Some developmental updates:  Landry is now running, not just walking.  She's talking a mile a minute although half the time it sounds more like Chinese than English.  Some of favorite words/phrases are "alrighty," "let's go," "dance party," and "love you" -- my personal favorite.

Her hair is getting so long.  Long enough to finally pull all of it back into a pony tail!  Her eyes are the prettiest gray/green/blue and she has eyelashes for days.  She's super tall wearing mostly 3T pants.  And she is totally into her brother cooing "baby" first thing every morning but then over him in about two minutes and off coloring in her Hello Kitty drawing book or trying to swing in his Mamaroo.

Barrett is also changing daily.  He's awake more and more each day.  He eats like a pig!  He's up to six ounces some feedings now which is more than Landry ever drank from a bottle even at 18 months.  His nights are so so.  Sometimes he goes four hours between feedings, other times two-and-a-half or three hours.

I have no clue who he looks like.  I don't think either of us, really.  His hair, which is a light brown just like Landry's at that age, is slowly growing in and it does look like it has a bit of curl.  His eyes are really blue, but who knows if that will change over time.

He has the sweetest personality.  He hardly ever cries.  He just loves to stare at your face and make the cutest chirp sounds like a little bird.  He already loves Cristina, our nanny, and she is over the moon about him.  We are all so in love with the little guy.

Last week for Valentine's Day we decided to stay in with the babies.  I cooked for Michael and we caught up over French 75's.  It was a simple night, just how we like it after a long work week.  Over the weekend we hung out with the kids, had family and friends over (my ex-business partner Morgan visited and we found out she's pregnant!), and soaked up the 75-degree weather.

Michael and I are both so busy at work right now that we're really enjoying laying low at home on the weekends.  I guess this is what married life with kids is all about!  Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Recent happenings

Winter babies are the best for nesters.  I've loved being holed up at home during this chilly weather with my sweet babies and hubby.

To beat cabin fever and allow Landry to blow some steam every now and then, we've hosted lots of dinner parties (two this weekend alone!) and have hit every playground within 10 miles from McDonalds to the mall.

I see a lot of happy meals and picnics in our future!
