April has been a total whirlwind!
Michael and I just got back from five nights in Harbour Island -- sans baby. The trip was simply fabulous and just what the doctor ordered. We left a couple days after the flea so we were ready for some serious relaxation time. My mom was so helpful and stayed at the house to watch Landry and enjoy some quality time with the string bean.
Unfortunately, we came home to a teething baby. The past two nights have been rough to say the least. It's so sad to see her in so much pain. You know it's bad when she welcomes the Motrin syringe.
This week I've been busy in meetings for the flea expansion. We're making major progress! I met with Starbucks on Tuesday to go inside the space but not sure how I feel about it just yet (the terms are complicated). I'm beyond amazed by the interest of major companies to be apart of my little business. Today Square (a cool credit card reader device) contacted me to be a part of the club, too. I can't wait for the fall when all of this hard work will come alive!
I've also been working away on my Missouri project for the Jones. The house is really coming together and looking fabulous. They have been making so many changes that I feel that I'll be on this job for years at this point though. We are making a major effort to keep it moving along -- even holding meetings at Valley Ranch during draft week! -- and will hopefully be installing by end of August just in time for me to switch gears come September with the flea launch.
Meanwhile Landry is really getting mobile. She's completely crawling and trying to stand. She's constantly pulling on furniture to be upright. She's also learned to clap and loves to copy simple sounds you say (no and "a" "e" "i" "o" "u" are favorites). She loves to get into things -- especially dirty things like my office trash can and dry cleaning hamper.
This weekend we plan to enjoy the nice weather with Landry and hit a few fun events in town. I'm so looking forward to relaxing with the family after being away from Landry for a week.

Diet
Breakfast: “I’m addicted to my espresso maker. I always make a latte, and right out the door I have a banana or an English muffin with peanut butter.” Snacks: “I don’t watch what I eat at lunch or dinner, so I pack healthy snacks.” Lunch: “I live on the Newporter salad at R&D Kitchen. I also love La Duni. It’s walking distance from the house, so it’s an easy trek with the baby.”Dinner: “We’re big grillers. Anytime I can sit outside with my husband, the baby, and a glass of wine, I’m happy.”Guilty Pleasures: “A hot dog fromWild About Harry’s and Yumilicious. I indulge a lot.”
Fitness
“When I don’t have time to hit Equinox in Highland Park, I take my daughter on walks. Every Friday, with a group of girlfriends, we do free MoMe Yoga at NorthPark with the babies. My favorite activity is swimming. My family lives in our pool all summer. Still, holding a baby is the best workout.”
Skin Care
“I’ve used the same St. Ives Apricot Scrub ($3.50) since I was 16 years old. I wash my face morning and night. I use moisturizer—I have very dry skin—and sunscreen. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick ($3) is always in my purse. I use it under my eyes and on my lips.”

Makeup
“My morning makeup and hair routine takes 20 minutes tops. It’s not just because I don’t have the time to spend on these things, but I prefer a more ‘undone’ look. I never leave the house without mascara (Maybelline Great Lash, $6), a hint of blush (Chanel Powder Blush, $43), and something on my lips. I love Nivea’s Milk and Honey Lip Balm ($3). Susan Posnick’s Color Essential Lipstick ($19) in Dallas is my go-to lipstick.”
Hair
“I like big, beachy hair. I’ve always done the ombre look because it’s so easy. I’ve gone to Heather Stout atOsgood O’Neil for my hair color since I was a freshman at SMU. For haircuts, I go to Ryan Chambers. I also love dry shampoo; it’s a lifesaver for a new mom. But my favorite beauty weapon is the ponytail. There’s nothing more chic than pulling your hair back.”
