Happy Mother's Day!

This weekend was a biggie marking Landry's two month birthday and my first Mother's Day.

We had a ball from grazing around town at favorite eateries to doing a few house chores (it's all I wanted for Mother's Day) and watching SNL snuggled up to the peanut.  Michael and I had a date Friday night (thanks Nana and Grandpa for babysitting!) starting with our friend Kari's graduation party and then dinner at R&D for our favorite meal and lemon drops!

Here, a few shots from the perfect little weekend.

Landry turns two months! Yep, she's sporting a boho embroidered top and skinny jeans just like her mama!

Michael and I celebrated the little bean's two month birthday at Company Cafe on the Katy Trail.  That's Spot on her lap.  Nana gave her the singing plush toy and she loves it!

My Mother's Day gift to myself: two groovy Greek key chairs for the sun room.  Planning to find a cool fabric to recover them in next week in California!

My Mother's Day flowers in the downstairs living room.  Aren't they gorg?!

First big girl bath!

Today Landry is two months!  We celebrated with her first big girl bath.

We were surprised that she didn't cry one peep.  Normally, during her sponge baths she is a little fussy.

But she loved her baby tub, which we placed inside our clawfoot so I could easily wash her. Sorry for the exposed shot ;)  Sweet girl still loves her little breech position.

Have a great weekend!

Eight weeks!

Monday was Landry's eight week birthday!  Can't believe she'll be two months this Saturday.

Yesterday we had a her eight week pediatrician appointment.  She's 23 and 3/4 inches long and weights 10 pounds 11 ounces.  She's in the 50% for weight and 75% for height and head circumference (Michael says she has his big brain).

The poor peanut had to get two immunization shots but was a total champ.  We also learned from her recent ultrasound results that she's in the clear for any hip problems. Phew!

The past couple weeks she's been getting more and more alert smiling like crazy and cooing all the time.  She really responds to my voice and even interacts with me now.  Michael thinks she's getting a little attached to mama; a lot of times she turns her head towards me the minute I walk in a room.

We've been out and about a ton (cabin fever set in by week five) hanging out with friends whenever we can.  Sunday was Ariana's couples baby shower for her little Leila.  Last Friday we had a lunch date with Lindsey (her husband is Kyle, Michael's best friend and best man at our wedding) and her little girl Hadley.  I think it's so great that these little girls will grow up together and be dear friends just like their daddy's.  During these lunches I wish I had my childhood friends nearby to do the same!

Today my friend Jackie came over to meet Landry and visit.  She's one of my oldest friends in Dallas as we used to work together at the Dallas Morning News.  That's her above in the photo!

This week I've been adjusting to life with a nanny.  We hired part time help and it's been nice to have a little free time to write stories in peace, run errands, etc.  Tomorrow I plan to make my first selfish date (a workout, coffee run, and pedi with my friend Kari).  Not sure how it will feel leaving Landry to do something just for myself (normally I hit the grocery store or run off for a quick story interview) but it's time for these thighs to see the gym and feet to get a little pampering before hitting the beach next week.    I know it's important to have adult/me time and I think it will make me a better parent with a little R&R here and there.

Yep, next Monday Landry and I will be on a plane to Orange County for a week.  I'm so excited for everyone to love on the ladybug and get to enjoy this fun, tiny phase.  I will be sure to snag some time with my friends including my best childhood pal Samantha who is due with a girl in September.  I'm counting down the days until I get my toes in the sand again.  With my parents now living at the beach I plan to be ocean side every day!

Landry got her first taste of a bathing suit this weekend.  On Saturday, I had her in the backyard with me (she in the shade, me in the sun trying to get a little bit of color on these pasty stems).  Have to get this Texas girl used to her California wardrobe!
