Lazy Sunday morning after the big birthday party

Singing happy birthday to daddy again today
It's hard to believe summer is coming to a close.  It feels like we just kicked off the season in Palm Springs a couple weeks ago.

Since my last post in early July, we've fit in a lot of fun: play dates with friends, celebrating Jon's 40th birthday with multiple dinners/parties, a weekend at the lake with friends (and no kids thanks to Mimi), another California install/adventure and just yesterday toasting Michael's 41st birthday with a big dinner party at the house.  I wish I had lots of photos to share, but I lost my darn phone in California a few weeks ago and with it lost loads of pictures.

This summer has also been a real butt kicker.  Michael has been knee-deep in work all summer and traveling a ton.  I've hired another person to help with the flea as we're in major expansion mode.  I've also been working around the clock with clients on two big local home projects.  In addition, I finally had stomach surgery to remove a benign mass on my stomach.  I've been putting it off since November because I'm not supposed to lift anything heavy for a few weeks post-op and have had too many installs this spring/summer.  As soon as I finished my California job a couple weeks ago I finally went under the knife to take care of everything.  It went well and I'm happy to finally have it behind me (although the scar if far from lovely).

The kiddos are doing great.  Barrett is 19 months going on 9-years old.  The kid is so big, so coordinated, talking like a parrot and just the sweetest thing I could ever ask for.  His hair is really growing (finally), he's in the same size shoe as Landry, and he will do anything to have a ball or Mickey Mouse stuffed animal in his hands.  My only complaint is that he does like to bite.  We never had this issue with Landry but he's not afraid to chomp down when his teeth are bothering him.  It's not fun for any of us.

Landry has become a little girl this summer.  She talks non stop and her words are very advanced.  She's also a copy cat.  Her new favorite phrase is "are you kidding me?!" which I am known to say quite often.  We are watching our language needless to say.  She loves to dance (her biggest request right now is Katy Perry) and to dress up in her Little Mermaid costume. Barrett is obsessed with her copying her every move.

It's hard to believe a year ago Michael and I were parked on a beach or at a luau in Hawaii.  Friday we had dinner with our pals Jon and Aimee to kick off the birthday celebration. It was far from Maui, but we celebrated his official big day last night with ten friends at the house with his favorite Greek food, wine and cake.  Today we chilled poolside with the kids and just relaxed.  It was the perfect weekend -- very relaxed and laid back.

Although I love these dog days of summer I'm also looking forward to fall, getting on a bit of a schedule, completing some big design jobs and continuing to build the flea.  It's a very exciting time right now (I just bought the rights to The Orange County Flea -- just putting it in the universe at this point but hoping to put some plans in action for a show in 2016 along with in Houston).  I feel so fortunate for my family and work life.  So so lucky.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Promise to keep my phone in a safe place and post more pix next time!
