Dressed and ready for brunch today! So happy to finally
bust out our furry fall vests! |
The past week has been a fun but exhausting one!
Last weekend we hit a fun fair with the kiddos and I took Landry to a girls brunch with our friends Lindsey and Hadley. The little ones had a ball eating breakfast, running around the mall and trying on shoes at Nordstrom (they took home the same pair of darling crochet Toms to match on future play dates).
Monday I had Barrett's nine month checkup. He weighs nearly 23 pounds and is the 80th percentile for height. The doctor says he is making all of his milestones and on track to be 6-foot tall if you believe the charts.
On the home front, he's starting to really devour solid foods. He loves savory flavors -- this weekend he fell in love with my homemade turkey, rice and corn medley. He's starting to pull himself up and army crawl. He is obsessed with Landry and lights up when he's around her. He starting teething again this weekend which means his third tooth is coming in any day (and we're all getting a little less sleep than usual).
This week was a whip preparing for the lodge install and next week's flea market. The install was a full three days and went swimmingly. This one was far from the 12-man team I had last time so my booty was put to work! But my assistant Ashley and I had a ball with my two installers; it's so rewarding to turn a blank slate into a complete home -- down to the bathroom hand towels -- overnight. Jerry Jr. couldn't stand not being there and flew up the first night so I actually had an extra pair of hands to help with some of the heavy lifting which was nice.
The 14-bed arena turned out so stinking cute (think Ralph Lauren meets John Wayne). Jerry is over the moon with it. He said if we'd done this space first he never would have built the lodge, which is a big compliment given he l-o-v-e-s the lodge. Better yet, since he flew up for install we were able to ride home with him and I made it back to Dallas just in time for trick or treating (my original flight wasn't scheduled to get back until 8 p.m.).
I walked in the door at 6 p.m. and beelined it to Landry's kitty costume. Michael pulled out the bag and it was dirty from class the day before. Sooooo, I pulled together an impromptu replacement with a leopard sweater, black and white tutu my grandmother made and black leggings. I tied her cat tail to the tutu, slipped on her kitty ears headband and drew on some whiskers with eyeliner. The outfit turned out totally cute and Landry was so excited which is the only thing that really mattered to me (Barrett was supposed to be a firefighter but slept through the festivities instead).
Landry had the night of her life trick or treating. She's obsessed with the candy jar and wants a piece of candy with every meal now. She loves her kitty ears -- so much so she wore them to lunch yesterday. I had to pick up my car from DFW since we flew back private and decided to take Landry to Rainforest Cafe near the airport. She LOVED it. She was so excited by the animals, other kids running around and souvenir shop. I see several more treks to the tourist trap in our future.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween weekend!
